Our Story

How it all started...

Our humble journey began in 1939 in the home of Troy and Betty
King where neighborhood families gathered each Sunday afternoon to worship God and fellowship together. In 1942, an existing church building was purchased and moved to the plot of land our church gym now occupies. Shortly thereafter, we were known as “King’s Chapel”. King’s Chapel was organized into a Presbyterian church in 1953 and in 1957 our church was blessed with our beloved pastor, Reverend James W. Brown. Pastor Brown was our shepherd until 1985. In 1962, God led us to build a larger church building across the street and it served our congregation well for 38 years. This building now houses many Sunday school classrooms and our fellowship hall.
We now worship Jesus in our newer sanctuary which was completed
in 2000. The architect designed our sanctuary around 5 stained glass windows that were chain sawed from a church building that was demolished…giving more meaning to God taking something seemingly useless and making it “new” again.
Our music ministry has sustained us through joyful times and difficult
times throughout our walk with Him. “Making a joyful noise unto the Lord” has unwaveringly brought comfort, joy, and peace as the Holy Spirit lovingly filled our hearts and our souls… “Praising our Savior all the day long!” …what “Blessed Assurance”!
Presently, Pastor David Love is our shepherd. He preaches the Bible, truly loves Jesus, and takes care of his flock’s needs. God has richly blessed us…again!
In so many of the above endeavors, we have witnessed the power of prayer and the power of stepping out in faith according to God’s plans and purposes for our church family...God has sustained us, God has walked with us, and our faith still holds onto His promises and His goodness.

1 John 5:14– This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we
ask anything according to His WILL, he hears us.

Where we are headed...

As the local church, we desire to live out the commands of Christ, to love the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our soul and with all our mind and to love our neighbor as ourself, and to teach others to do the same through intentional discipleship. We have set our mind on the things of God so that we can know Him in order to love Him. This desire also describes how we endeavor to prepare the hearts and minds of children at Pineland. Our goal is that they too may love the Lord their God with all their heart and with all their soul and with all their mind. We value children as part of the church and seek to integrate them into the life of the congregation in their formative years so our children are prepared for a lifetime of corporate worship in a local church.

Pineland is a member of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, (EPC),  and we support local and global missions to carry forth the Gospel into all of the world. We are committed to see the Lord glorified and His people draw closer to Him and one another in genuine love and fellowship. We would love for you and your family to come and be a part of the Lord's story He has been writing for the past 85 + years  and we believe the greatest is yet to come.
